The arrogant man in the wheelchair didn't even glance up from his steak. He waved a dismissive hand, his gold watch catching the light.

"Get lost, kid. Security!"

The boy stood firm, his small dirty hands clutching a crumpled piece of paper. His eyes were sharp, older than his years.

"Sir, you have exactly 60 seconds," the boy said quietly.

The man finally looked, irritation turning to confusion. Around them, the elegant diners pretended not to notice, but a few heads turned.

The boy continued, voice steady. "Your brakes. I loosened them while you were eating. The countdown started when I said 'Sir.'"

The wealthy man's face paled. He tried to move his wheelchair. The wheels didn't lock. It began to roll slowly toward the open rooftop edge, where only a thin glass railing separated him from the 30-story drop.

Guests gasped. A woman screamed.

"What the hell is this?" the man snarled, fumbling for his phone. His hands shook.

The boy stepped closer. "59... 58..."

Security rushed in, but the boy held up the paper. "It's a note. Read it or he falls."

The head waiter snatched it and read aloud, voice trembling: "I saw you hit that street kid last month. You drove away. This is your second chance."

The wheelchair picked up speed on the slight slope, heading straight for the railing. The man grabbed the wheels, burning his palms, but it wasn't enough.

"Stop this madness! I'll pay you! Name your price!" he yelled.

The boy didn't smile. "47... 46... You have money. But that kid you hit? He was my brother. He can't walk anymore."

Panic spread across the rooftop. People stood up, some filming with their phones. The man's expensive suit was now soaked with sweat.

He reached into his pocket and threw a thick wallet at the boy's feet. "Take it all! Just fix the brakes!"

The boy ignored the money. "You still don't understand. This isn't about money."

The wheelchair was now ten feet from the edge. The glass railing looked fragile under the city lights.

"32... 31..." the boy counted, never breaking eye contact.

The man started begging. Real tears this time. "Please... I'm sorry... I didn't see him..."

The boy shook his head. "Everyone saw. No one helped."

Security tried to grab the boy, but he slipped away like a shadow. The wheelchair continued its deadly roll.

At the last moment, the man screamed, "I'll find the boy! I'll pay for his treatment! Everything!"

The boy paused his count. The wheelchair stopped just inches from the railing, as if by magic. A hidden string or trick? No one knew.

The boy picked up the wallet, took out a single bill, and dropped the rest.

"You have one week to prove it," he said. "Or next time, there won't be a countdown."

He vanished into the crowd before security could catch him, leaving the wealthy man trembling in his wheelchair, the city skyline glittering indifferently behind him.
